Ok I will list what I have did/eliminatoed so far.

The AC fues isn't blown and the blower motor works.

I checked the connecton on the compresor, the terminals are clean and not corroded or melted.

I pulled the ac relay and the plug and wires are melted.

I checked the relay and when apply power across the terminals the relay clicks.

With the key on and ac on max

We tested all 4 plugs in the connector, and could only identify the + switching , and the power out to the compressor.

We applied 12V to wire in the connector that leads to the compressor and it makes the compressor click so there isn't a problem there.

What we don't have is the ground to the relay(for the switching), and the positive feed to the relay(that would pass through to the compressor). Shouldn't those be there all the time?

When I turn the selector to AC it dosn't register on turbolink, and the radiator fan dosn't come on.

I had read that if the AC charge is low the compressor won't run. How does it do that? What circuit does it open?

Any help is apprecataed.

Scott

It looks for pressure at the switch on the dryer (accumulator).

Could be the actual switch (inside) is bad as well.

Have you verified a charge in the system?

Here i ment to say we identified the + switching because it was hot with the AC on, and then with ac switch off it was not.

ZAM,

No I have not, but dosn't the compressor have to be running to be able to check the charge?

I am thinking it is an electrical problem, because it dosn't show the AC as ON on trubo link and the radiator fan dosn't come on. And the plug and wires are melted.

I seperated the wires to make sure nothing was shorting out.

Does anyone know that if the charge is low it will cause the radiator fan not to run? and not register on Tlink

I'm emailing you this section from the service manual. I've used it to run through this type of problem before.

g'luck...

That is what i don't have.

Thanks

Well just as a fallowup it was just low on charge, so after I put a can of r-12 in the compressor would stay on by itself. I had to jump the connector to get it to run. But the compressor is grinding real bad, so it looks like I will have to replace it. I am going to do a R-134a conversion.

Also after I got the compressor to come it the highspeed fan came on.
