I was told I needed to replace this switch and it simply screwed off and I wouldn't loose any freon but when I started to unscrew it I heard a noise as if I was loosing something so I just tightened back up . Will you loose the freon if it is un screwed ? Thanks

Will lose next to nothing do it fast and have new part ready to go in case your valve leaks

It shouldn’t but it’s a schrader valve so it will leak a little until you get the sensor off and if it’s 30 years old it may not function properly

Unscrew it as fast as possible and screw new one on quick if the leak doesn’t stop. Going slow it will leak

The AC is new , bout 3 years old , but was having some issues and the shop said it was the switch .

If you’re sure the system is not low on refrigerant you can put a jumper in the harness to test it.
