Just installed my new decklid. Had a couple of questions:

The trunk tourqe bars , can they be adjusted to work? If not , whats the best way to remove them? Didnt the 2+2 and the MC aerocoupe have tiny fiberglass trunks?

Second ; whats the best way to align the deck lid? Slotting the hinge bars or the decklid ? Im thinking that elongating the holes on the metal part would work .

Brian,

FWIW when I put a fiberglass decklid on my car I had to take those crossbars off as the tension would be too much, who knows if I did right but was told they had to go.

So what I did was drill a hole thru one of the "arms" in the trunk all the way thru and stuck an inch or so long thin rod/pin in the hole and it will keep the trunk lid open, I just take the pin out and close lid when done.

As far as aligning it, mine fit well when I got it back from paint but once I put the weather stripping it didn't line up as well. I tried adjusting the rubber bumoers and got it as best I could but it aint perfect.

Hope this helps, sure others who have done it can chime and and hopefully I can learn a trick or two myself.

the areocoupe didnt' have a fiberglass lid, but it was tiny. only like a foot long. for some reason i want to say it used gas shocks. if you really want to know i can go out to the garage and check for ya.
