Just installed a aftermarket aluminum radiator but had to delete the oil cooler since all the radiator had was a transmissin cooler. I want to reinstall a oil cooler and am curious about how to hook an aftermarket oil cooler up. Does anyone make one for these cars? I would like to have some strong hose made that will allow me to connect my original oil cooler adapter lines up to an aftermarket oil cooler. Has anyone done this or any other application? Thanks

I did the same thing, put the F-body radiator in and it didnt have the oil cooler. So I went to Pep Boys and got a standard oil cooler that they have there, had a friend make me this braket:

then as far as hooking it up, it came with some hoses, that had a large enough diameter to slip over the threads of the existing oil cooler lines from the orgional radiator and locked it on with a hose clamp. This allows me (if I ever want to) to put a stock style radiator back in and use the factory oil lines. From there, I just fed them around the battery and under the head lights to behind the bumper and the air dam, at a 40* angle as I was told that would be the most efficent for cooling..

Clear as mud?

Part number of oil cooler

Thats interesting. Do you know the part number for the oil cooler? Did you see a big difference in cooling then from the stock oil cooler?

talking about engine temperature? or oil temperature? don't know, I don't have a oil temp gauge, but my engine runs at 162 constantly. I don't have a part number right now, but, I will try and find one for you.

I just did this last week. I wanted to lighten the frontend and picked up the F-body radiator. I also had an aluminum core suppoet to install. I purchased a Permacool dual pass oil/trans oil cooler, with 5/8" tubes, for $100 from Summit. Check it out at their website or in the catalog. They also have coolers just for oil. I installed it an inch in front of my radiator and had some longer hoses made up at an industrial hose supply nearby. The hoses use the original fittings coming off the engine to AN fittings I got for the cooler. Cost $40 to have the hoses made up and for the fittings for both the engine oil and trans oil passages.

I'm using an 8x11x1.5 oil cooler. I had some brackets fabbed up with a scoop to mount the cooler just behind the headlight. It atatches to the bumper shock and to the lip on the right inside body. The scoop hangs down about 1". I'm using aeroquip fittings and lines. I'm still building the setup and don't have it fully installed. I'm waiting for the derale 9" fans. I wanted to run a front mount intercooler later so I was trying to think ahead. My tranny cooler uses a similar bracket in the left fender.
