Can anybody tell me if there is a filter in the ac system.
Ac guy says its clogged up by the passenger side fire wall?
If this filter does exist , anybody know the part number?
Thank You

They don't have a filter per se, unless he means the accumulator, which connects directly to the evaporator. Only other thing might be the orifice tube in the line from the condensor to the accumulator.

I think he's talking about the orifice tube. It acts like a filter to catch contaminates in the system. Don't know the part number though, and if you change it, you should also replace the reciever/dryer.

There is a screen in the line, right at a coupler/joint, that gets clogged fool o' crap, mine did. This is what my a/c guy told me and after I cleaned it out [be careful you don't fubar it] the system worked perfectly. Once clogged it has something to do with the system's inability to reduce pressure from within.

As mentioned, yes, orifice tube. They cost a couple dollars. It's located inside the union located right by the dryer. Just open it up and pull it out with small needle nose pliers. Make sure you install the new one in the proper direction.

Thanks for the reply's

Yes this tube is cold on one side and hot / warm on the other.
One last question on the topic. Is there oil or coolant inside? maybe both? ...... Dealer item???
Thanks Again
Kevin

Then make sure to evacuate the system and put it in a vacuum before recharging.

System has refrigerant and oil in it. You can purchase (134A) both at any parts store.

If you open up the system you will lose oil and freon to change the orifice tube and will then need to get the system evacuated and recharged.
