Where is everyone putting their Air Temp Sensor.
I have heard some people putting it in their Plenum.
Is this the best place for the sensor.
What about placement?
In the side or in the back of the plenum???
Any suggestions.
Thanks,
Jason

I just laid mine on the inner fender when I installed a K&N.

On 99% percent of chips (unless you have it custom burned) it really doesn't matter where you put it.

LOL...yup,mine is zip tied laying on the inner fender well next to the filter. It reads the ambient air temp just like it would if it was stuck off in the filter.

As mentioned above per the chip it doesn't matter where you put it. BUT... If you want some useful information about your intake air temps you'll put it in the air inlet tract somewhere between the intercooler and intake. Most use either the up-pipe or plenum/intake.

Air Temp Sensor

I Have Seen The Air Temp Sensor Put In The Plenum.
That's Where I Was Thinking Of Putting Mine.
I Just Wasn't Sure Where To Put It In The Plenum.
The Side Or The Back???
It Looks Like It Would Disrupt The Airflow???
Especially In The Back Of The Plenum.
I Have A Precsion 70 Mm Plenum.
Any Opinions???

That was bruce. He put an LS1 MAF in the up pipe, too.

Unless you have bruce burn you a chip to take advantage of the temp readings, just lay it on your inner fender.

If you just want to put it in the plenum to measure the plenum temps for giggles, I'd put it on the back wall where the disruption in flow won't hurt anything (too much flow there, anyway)

You can put it in the plenum but it will be more subject to heat soak.
I have mine in the up pipe, mainly due to running the TPro which uses the Air Temp sensor for temperature compensation for the Speed Density calculation. I had a buddy make me a bung and welded it to the up pipe so it just screws in, very nice and neat.

HR Parts also has bungs available in both stainless or aluminum for this.

I'm going to have 2 sensors in addition to the one running the engine which will be located in the inlet air filter area. The other two will be post turbo, pre-intercooler and located in the LQ4 MAF in the up pipe. I might add another one in the plenum to check the temperature performance of the Alky. This along with MAPs at simular locations will all feed into my homemade 8 channel Data Aquisition System. I will not be running a factory computer though neither will I be running an aftermarket system either so the air temp actually does matter on the newer OBDII system I'll be using. As far as most people here... yeah, most chips don't use that really it seems so still it in the fenderwell. The one thing I do remember from Bruce's ramblings is that the MAF temp correction on the older style MAFs is in the computer but if you go for a new MAF and translator its onboard the MAF.

I Am Installing The New Parts Now.
I Am Using A Ls1 Maf Sensor.
I Ordered A Translator From Full Throttle And Its Backordered.
I Was Thinking About Upgrading To The Translator Pro???
I Don't Have A Chip Yet Either.
I Am Using The Stock Ecm With 60 Lb Injectors And A 61 Turbo.
Does The Placement Of The Air Temp Sensor Matter At All?
I Haven't Heard Much Feedback On The Translator Pro Either?
Any Suggestions On A Chip Would Also Be Helpful.
Thanks.
Jason

Drilled a hole in the k&n filter boot about 1 size smaller than the sensor after the clamp on bottom outta the way and less clutter push in and pull out and should get a relatively good reading being in line.
