Does anyone know what the single brown does and were it goes.

Small single brown wire in the plug on the back of the alt. come from the dash. I don/t know all the details, but when you turn the key on, the volt lite in the dash must come on and you must have 12 volt at the end of the wire for the alt. to charge. I guess it is called the signal wire.

Thanks Lee thats what Scott said you would say.I had to run a wire from the out put to that plug to make it charge.

Ya that wire is like the "wake up" wire for the alt. it tells it when to charge or turn on.The brown wire is ign. and if you ran a new one fom the ign ,just make sure you properly fuse it. I had to do the same on my car as well it just wouldn't charge anymore!
