Alternator options??

I need to upgrade mine to a 200 amp what's out there?? I know of Tb's.com 200 amp option just wondered what else is out there.

You can get one off of summit or jegs...they are powermaster motorsports 200 amp alternators, they also come in chrome but they will run you at least $450.....

Are you sure a CS-144 is the alternator that came on a 1987 T?

Yeah, if the car is a VIN 7, it should be a CS-144. I've never seen otherwise. Here is some info regarding 1, 2, and 3 wire setups. Our cars (at least the '86 & '87's w the CS-144) use the 2 wire system, the B+ wire (aka charge wire) and the Lamp lead. B+ is hot all the time, the Lamp lead in the regulator plug goes through the dash light to +12V switched by the ignition switch. On mine I also have the sense lead in the regulator plug going to the battery to sense the battery voltage. It helps compensate for the voltage drop in the wire from the alternator to the battery.

Start listening to AM talk radio and leave the good stereo for the living room in your house.:biggrin: Funny you should ask this. I just had a kid (well, kid to me) ask me the SAME thing yesterday! What amp are you planning on running that NEEDS more than 120 amps?
Man, I HATE those kids that drive by my house with the stereo BOOMING!
