I've owned my GN since '94 and just noticed the other day while swapping wheels and tires that it has aluminum rear brake drums. Did and GN's come with them? I thought they were mainly found on T-Types. I also found the broadcast sheet taped to the door underneith the interior panel (while replacing a broke door handle and power window switch). Build date of 3/11. I'm the second owner of the car and the first owner was a lady that took excellent care of it and never changed anything from stock.

Thanks!

Its usually found in the 87 Turbo T's equiped with a posi traction. I don't think GN's came with aluminum drums.

Alum drums are usually found on turbo cars w/o posi. This can and does include GN's. Have seen some original GN's with G80 AND the alum drums.

Towards the end of the production run, GM used stock on hand I would guess?

Nick is correct. Aluminum drums were put on non-posi cars at the factory. Many turboregal owners use them because they are lighter and also give a little more backspacing than the steel drums.

my late build GN had G80 (as all late builds do) and steel drums. Now they are aluminum:)
