I am changing the bearings in my axle tubes...I removed the oil seal and the bearing on the end of the axle tube closest to the brake...now I am looking inside the tube and way in the back there looks to be another bearing or two with ridges in there for the splines on my new axles...what are those back in there and should those be changed out? are those wheel/axle bearings too or just the ones i pulled out? the reason i ask is because i ordered my new moser axles and i asked for new wheel bearings too and they only sent me the ones on the outside of the axle tube...i used a bearing puller to get them out...now do i have to stick this bearing remover tool all the way to the back of the axle tubes to pull those way in the back out next or what???

reason for all this is because i have bent stock axles...so i figured i might as well change everything i can while everything is apart...

hi,
what you see in the all the way on the inside is the bearings and the carrier in the center section.you dont touch those.

nick,

ok that's cool...i just changed the wheel bearings now...i was wondering do you have to use wheel bearing grease for these or do you just oil them with the regular gear oil? i figured that since these bearings in our cars are semi-floating or floating bearings they call it...that i wouldn't need to use the wheel bearing grease and that i would just have to use the gear oil to lube them...is this correct?

hi,
yes,the bearings are lubed by the gear oil in the carrier.it wouldnt be a bad idea to prelube them though.
