Anyone having any good luck with a particular valve cover gasket when it comes to oil leaks!!!! I have been trying the fel-pro thick black rubber ones, but start to leak in a short time. Not overtighting, or leaving them loose.
GN1 heads with the champion valve covers. I have looked into the Fel-pro perma-dry plus, rigid core, and cork-lam series. Twice the price, but well worth it if they work!!!! Anything working well, please post it along with part # if you have. Thanks

I dont have the part number,But felpro makes a plastic layered steel gasket that does not leak.I have had great luck with them,If know one has the number, ill get it from my engine builder tomorrow

Thanks Otto. The part # would be great!! Just about ready for them, and I know they will have to be ordered. Almost ready to head out your way. I had it all together, but had the slight coolant leak out of heads. So had to pull apart to retorque the head bolts. And wouldnt you know it, I was speaking to Bobby, and he told me about the longer bolts for the top corners of heads on the newer GN1's , and come to find, Champion sent me the wrong 4 bolts for them. So just got the rite ones, and figured it was a good time to throw in a set of T&D rockers. Just waiting on my pushrods.

Felpro 50156T

can you get these at a local parts store? The reason i am asking is that my driver side cover is leaking really bad and i just replaced it with another rubber gasket and is still leaking. I need to have the car running by the weekend to strap it down for its dyno session and cant really wait for the part to ship out. let me know, thanks.

Any local store should be able to get them,Depends on how local their warehouses are for delivery time,Ive reused them about 4 times and no leaks

Ive never had a problem with cork, dont know what brand is on there now. My problem has always been the oil fill / breather leaking out onto the valve cover.

Hi,
It's ironic, but I never had a leak problem after I put the thick rubber Felpros on. Of course, we're talking stock heads and covers here.Maybe the aluminum is a factor?

I found them local for $25.
Thanks OTTO.

They are nice huh? and oil wont soak into them like cork or rubber

Fel Pro Perma Dry Plus valve cover gaskets - #VS-50156T

I could not find them in stock anywhere in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area. Summit Racing expects a 2-3 week delay before shipping these once they are ordered. I was finally given a representative to contact (through the drag racer's grapevine) at Federal Mogul and ordered them direct from him. If anyone is interested in having a one-stop contact for these, I'll see if he is willing to have his information posted here.

I have the Buick 6 aluminum valve covers on my car and they leaked bad with the rubber valve cover gaskets, I put the cork ones on with some silicone I let the silicone set up for a few hours and it worked perfect, no more leaks.

My engine had an old cork one on one side and a decayed rubber one on the other. They didnt leak, but I didnt like the shape they were in, so I used the Fel-pro rubber ones. They work great. Just make sure the sealing surface on the cover is sanded and oil free, and DO NOT use any kind of silicone. Especially that black RTV garbage that works on nothing and never has. You just may have some alignment issues, or a gouge/gouges somewhere on the sealing surface of the heads. And dont overtorque them, or the cover will warp and now you have leaks.

SloGN, They make the oil pan gasket in a perma dry plus!!! same factor as the valve cover with a metal shim in between !!! If so, please post a part # for this!! The cork gasket on the girdle just aint working as well, not a real issue yet  but a future project if perma-dry+ makes the oil pan gasket as well.
