After getting the engine back in my car the guys who put it in couldn't get the cat to hook back up to the exhaust. The exhaust is a single shot. It was fine when the engine came out of the car. I did change turbos from a TE-60 to a TE-63-1. The cat seems to hang at an angle towards the ground. The guys are afraid that if they tighten the bolts from the cat to the exhaust that the pressure will crack the turbo exhaust housing. It seems the cat and exhaust are also about an inch from touching. What could have caused this?

the exhaust, from laying around while the motor was out, has relaxed, some clamps might need to be loosened and retightened, and the tail pipe bracket might have bent baclwards from the pressure of being disconnected

I told the guys to loosen the clamps and try to get it right. They said it wouldn't work. The exhaust is still like it should. It's the cat and downpipe that have changed. The cat now hangs at an angle towards the ground. If you pull up on it to get it straight to mate with the exhaust it puts pressure on the exhaust housing on the turbo. I told them that the guys who put the exhaust on had quite a time installing it. They said it took some effort to get it to fit. All the parts are turbo Regal parts so I don't see what the fitment problem could be. It is a TE-63-1 turbo, ATR 3" downpipe, 3" hi-flo cat, and 3" single shot from Cotton's. When I get the car home today I might try and mess with it. If not I'll have plenty of time to play with it before getting it back on the road. While waiting for the engine to get rebuilt the tags went dead and so did the inspection sticker.
