this year will be my 22nd as a mail carrier, what would you like to know ?

Thanks If I could ever get anyone in the USPO management I would ask them they never pickup phone. Do the bosses work?

1) I am going to be taking the rural carrier test Friday. I hear that if you get called for the job you are not perm until they feel you will work out & a person retires to open a position. TRUE?

2) i WAS ALSO called back as a casual starting next week.
If I pass the test I mentioned above & get called while working as a CASUAL.
What happens to the CASUAL position? can I leave it to take the ruaral carrier.

3) You may not know this one. HOW WEIGHT bearing is a speeding ticket?

not to hijack, but I also am interested in this. been thinking about taking the RCA test also.

do you mean for the position or the clearance?? for the clearance Its not a big deal. I worked the help desk for the postal service before I had to move to FL. I was cleared and it wasnt difficult.

I work at Fedex and when you get hired as a casual that means you dont get benefits yet and so forth. They can also let you go without reason. After a certain amount of time they can offer you part time status or full time status. Again thats fedex not the PO but might be about the same.

question 1 true, but thats for rural but not city carriers, 2, if they call you back , they will give you the opportunity to take the test for permanent employment , if you're a veteran you get 5 extra points toward your test score, keep working until they switch you over from casual to p.t.f.s., (substitute carrier) i've seen people go thru this, personel dept will handle this. as for the speeding ticket : no problem, as long as you have a drivers license with nothing serious behind it like a d.u.i. , you,ll be fine. good luck. :)

THANKS for the info.
TEST WENT OK today, WILL HAVE RESULTS IN A FEW WEEKS.

Next Wed I will be reporting for casual duty unfortunatly it is not in NH but in Boston/Area (I can't get away from those Mass drivers  )

all thats availably in my area are RCAs. do you have any idea how often they get work?? Im thinking about doing it part time, until it would lead to a full time position that is. I have vererans preference and I should be still cleared for postal also, and even if im not all they would have to do is reactivate the clearance.

Those guys get paid so much its ridiculous, if you are an old timer working at the PO right now you have a nice retirement coming.

we work very hard for those nice retirements. our job isnt easy as people think.

TRUE I see my mailman walking around in 13 degree weather the past few days. When I sell ebay items I put all packages in a box so he can walk them back to his LV truck.

Lots of lazy azz people won't even shovel or remove ice for these postal workers.
