Ian ,
Just get it from one of the big places like Jegs or Summit and you will get the right muffs. If you buy from a small place no telling which youll get if its old stock.I bought a kit about 2 yrs ago now and i got the AC muffs, from Jegs.

I got the Hooker cat back with super comps on my 86 GN.Bought the system from Jegs about 3 years ago.It sounds great with my gutted cat,not to loud but kinda throaty.Doesn't attract too much attention if you get on it in town unlike my other car with Pitbull muffs which I think the innards are rotted out..:eek:They sound like straight pipes. What don't you like about Super Comps?

I want the absolute quietest exhaust I can find. I like stock, but naturally the performance issues arise. I've been told the Aerochambers are the quietest.

I orderd a hooker cat back from summit a month ago.
It came with aerochambers.
Its on the we4 now:D
sounds good, not that much louder than stock.

I bought this kit from summit about 4 years ago for my first GN. It came with super comp's.

I bought it about 1 year ago for my current GN and it came with Aerochambers.

Rob, since you have both...do you have a preference? Were there different part numbers on the boxes or anything that you can recall?

U dont want the one with the super comps! That sucker drones like no other. You will hate it. The areochamber is the way to go. Ive had them both. I had an original un aluminized system with the super comps....couldnt stand it. I then swapped the mufflers only for Hooker Maxflows and it was awesome with little to no drone. That system finally rotted off and i went with the new system with the aerochambers.

The super comp's did drone, right around 55-60 mph they drove me crazy if I didn't have the radio on. I never used the aerochambers, I swapped them to a friend for a pair of Dynomax ultraflo's. The are not too loud but no drone at all! As for the aero's, can't say

I do remember the shipping. I think these kits sit in Jeg's and Summit's warehouse's without the mufflers in the kit. My first kit was a box that had been opened and had the super comp's put in the box(while also in their own boxes), then resealed. The second kit came with the same box as the first for the pipes but the Aerochambers came taped to that box(in their own boxes). I thought they ran out of super comp's and threw me the good aerochambers to make up for it. The kit was the same Hooker part # from both summit and Jegs. Go with Jegs, thats where I got my aerochambers.

Aerochambers here.

I just bought a Hooker cat back system a couple months ago. I bought it from Summit. Came with Aerochambers. I bought from Summit because they don't charge a premium for shipping. I believe Jeg's tacks on extra shipping and handling charges because of size/weight. Summit doesn't.

How do the Hooker Max Flows compare to the Aerochambers? I have the Max Flows now and I don't like the drone at ~2000 RPM. Its quite tiring.

Hi All,

Anyone happen to have the part # off the aerochambers? Wifes car has this system and I need to replace both mufflers.

If no one have part number anyone know the dimensions of what size ins in and out.

Hi Louie......hope you're feeling better.....get my emails?

Thanks

I ordered the hooker kit from summit like 2-3 years ago & super comps came with mine..summit does charge for oversize boxing as does jegs...the super comps sounded ok but i wanted to go ultraflow cause everyone running them said it was faster with them so I installed the ultraflow welded muffs & you could really hear the turbo out the exhaust when you reved it..the car picked up quiet a bit with them also i ran alot of 7.9x's then after I ran several 7.7x's..different nights but I raced the entire year & pretty well always ran the same so the muffs def helped me out!!!
If you dont want drone get a V8 or another car..the droning is the lil V6 wining like a baby...my stock..super comps & ultraflows all had what everyone calls drone..none no worse than the other...but the ultraflow welded not the stainles if your on a low cost budget..no need for stainless..use high temp paint & there good for a while..I painted my whole exhaust & its still on there..

Summit's kits are supposed to come with supercomps. I bought mine from www.kirbanperformance.com and they ONLY sell Aerochambers with their kit. Best of all - it supports our T6 vendors, great price, and you get a superior product over Summit or Jegs. They sell it with supercomps because it's a cheaper kit. They sell them for the same price regardless of aerochamber or supercomp kit.

This is an example of how a big retailer isn't necesarily better, and the cheapest price isn't the best price when you open the package.

I'd return any Hooket cat-back kit if it came with supercomps. The aerochambers are whisper quiet and flow like open exhaust. No other muffler can touch them.

hooker cat back with no mufflers (stright pipes) and test pipe. the only down side is for some reasion the turbo whisle sounds kind of like a old vw engine  yall should see some of the looks i get. i think i made alittle exhaust leak when i welded it so ill have to go back in and redo it all

Seems pretty unanimous here. Super Comps = Bad. Aerochambers = Good. I ran one of Cotton's original exhaust setups with SS Ultraflows and after a day I was ready to rip the UF's out and try ANYTHING else. The drone was HORRIBLE.

As far as buying it through Kirban, we're talking $100 difference plus higher shipping. Considering I bought a car from him that turned out to have serious engine issues, I won't be doing him any favors.

I'll order the kit from Summit and hope for the best for now.

I got my Hooker system from Summit about 6 months ago. No problems, came with the Aero chambers and a test pipe. I think I paid about $280 or $300 shipped, can't remember. I called to double check that the aerochambers came on the system, and the tech guy said that's all they ship with...no more super comps. As far as the Kirban thing goes, I almost ordered mine through him, but why pay $100 more, plus more shipping?? HTH

I bought my Hooker exhaust system a little over a year ago from Poston's and it came with the AeroChambers...I like the system...not too loud but not extremely quiet either...I run a gutted cat so I am sure it would be super quiet if you had a regular cat on there...

I have an almost new set of these Aerochambers that came with the Hooker system for sale. They are in near mint condition and have been heat coated. I'll have them for sale in Bowling Green if anyone is interested. Took them off a few months after we put them on.... bought a 3" single shot for my pop's GN and have no need for'em.
