Just curiuos if anyone read this article. It talks about when turning at high "G"'s, that the oil shifts to one side. Is there anything out there oil pan wise that fixes this problem. Just curious if anyone here had done or seen any research on this matter. My car should be able to handle good, would like to check up on this.

yeah i read that article about the pan with the baffles. not sure if they have one for our cars yet, but the pan they talked about was supposed to work

ever watch monster garage?
well on one episode they were making a figure eight race car out of an el camino (not a gn but oh well). they put an oil pan on it from moroso(i think). it had kind o flike a trap door thing on the inside of pan at the bottom. you know im gonna stop there because i cant even really describe it so nevermind:cool:

What about the reader's letter of the month??? Anyone read that? I'd like to give that ricer kid a few smacks!!

Not me, I hate to say it but that kid was right on the money. I like both, I own an 86 GN and now am going for a mazdaspeed turbocharged protege. Best of both worlds. Car Craft started the whole argument and then ask when it got personal??? Why not leave everyone alone and let them be. Everyone talks about ricer punks, but I see more teenagers running around in their 87-93 mustang gt 5.0's thinking they can beat anything. It happens to everyone. I know this post is gonna turn ugly. But why cant all these older guys mind their business and leave these import kids alone. Those hp numbers they can pull out of a four banger are impressive. Why cant anyone just admit it.

We had a oil pan deepend for my friends car. They added about 2" to the sump of the pan and the pick-up was modified so it was in the right place. They also re-did the baffles. It holds 7-8qt of oil now.

The car has good oil pressure breaking hard and accelerating hard. Before it was questionable when slowing down from 120+

Cost was minimal on it, maybe $100 + buying a stock oil pan.

I don't disrespect imports or their abilities........ I prefer american iron to foreign, but whole heartedly admit I have owned everything from a porsche, to an Audi Quattro.......a SHO taurus with a Yamaha engine, and countless american cars.

Almost bought a Civic before I bought my TR

I like CARS :D

My problem is with his comments like " You envy us because the average musclecartuner is an old, fat, balding, and unemployed man who watches nascar in the livingroom trailer home "

That's my problem....

That's my problem....

But this is TRUE! However, in car craft, they also said that every import junky is a kid with yellow spiked hair and a backwards visor, loosefitting clothing, and a handful of earrings. Yes there are import junkies like this. And there are many old, fat, balding, and unemployed men who watches nascar in the livingroom trailer home that like muscle cars. The problem that lies here is the fact that they used the word "EVERY". No, not everyone is like that. He gave car craft a taste of his own medicine. And if you seen the two page drawings/bashings of the import crowd in a way back issue, Id say that car craft had it coming.

I used to subscribe to Chevy High Performance in my pre-G.N. days and then Jeff Smith became the editor. From then on it seemed like the stories became more and more recycled: how pushrods work or what ever else.

When I saw that he became editor of CC I'm still on the fence about renewing my subscription.

As for the ricer guy he's got a right to express his opinion but
I don't think he's entirely right. :D
