Nice stuff in theory, on the two sets of headers I tried it on, they got sooo hot the metal crystalized, and they literary fell apart.

Oh and the fabric traps oil, not too nice fire wise.

The ceramic coatings work alot better.

Saw a post about this on another forum and people have good and bad luck with the wrap.

Personally, my 3" Terry Houston SS DP and crossover are thermotec wrapped (non-graphite). I've had it on for a little over 6 years with no issues at all. Car stays outside and drive through all weather conditions.

Surface temp comparison: thermotec wrap is much cooler than ceramic coating.

My theory that i have come up with after doing alot of studying about this stuff is, it is good for things that are supposed to be cool, to help them stay cool, but it seems to me that it wouldn't be best for headers, turbo, downpipe, because it doesnt let any heat out, and would block air getting to it to cool it. I dont know if anyone else agrees with this. Im in the process of taking my headers off and i was gonna use that stuff, but have since decided to go another route (after posting threads and learning about it), i dont see the maf pipe getting hot but it probably would be good for that, to help keep the air flowing inside cool.

all of this is just my opinion, and i am not a expert in this, but i still thought i would share my thoughts, thanks

Increasing the scavenging effect on the exhaust helps generate power.

If you are looking to cool an item down because it is "too hot" then that item has a poor heat retention. The heat is transferring from that item to the outside at such a rate that you lose scavenging effect. Thermotec is just an external material that you put on with the same principal as coatings.

For thermal efficiency it would be ideal to coat or wrap headers, turbo (hot side), and downpipe. The whole debate is whether Thermotec is the right choice based on others' experiences.
