I have a cracked drivers header and the turbo gasket(3 bolt flange) so I think that is limiting some boost since Im pushing through. Only able to hold 4 psi footbraking before pushing thru.

Very respectable

60fts are a lil slow --were u spining the tires? MPH is good, should only go faster if there are no leaks. 12.00s should be no problem.
 
Sounds about right. I think you have atleast a 12.00 combo with some tuning and 104 octane unleaded or maybe some 116 leaded fuel.
That's about where I was with very similiar set-up last year. I ran 12.11 at 113, but I was using alcy and it was 21# of boost, nittos. 1.90 60 ft was all it would do before spinning.
 
Well, thanks for the opinions!! I went to test and tune at a "better prepped" track. I drove 60 miles to get there, went thru tech and slapped on my slicks. My first time was my best time.

Was done on same setup as above, same settings. I think I burnt up my posi on the 2nd run, it has been clunking around and was spinning the right side wheel only. I ran 1 more 12.20 and then my car came victim to heatsoak. I drove it home 60 miles too!! All in a days work!
 
I am certainly no pro, just a reader and hoping for fast times in the future.

But from what I have read, with a TE44, you should be below the 12's...into the 11's. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (and I may be).

You're missing something.
- I think your rear gear may be holding you back.
- I think you're stahl may be too high, but i'm not familiar with the TH400.
- I think you need a better intercooler.
- I noticed you didn't say anything about your fuel system. Is it up to par?
Just thoughts, but I think you have more in it.

Hate to hear about your posi. But all this can be fixed.

I'd say that's pretty good for those levels, I'd want the 60fts. to be a bit better with true slicks however.

A 1.65 should get you a 12 flat at low boost and timing. :smile:

Yea, I'm still learning. Doing well just keeping mine on the road right now.

So what would need to be done to get that TE44 down into the 11's?
Alcohol injection?
Less/more timing?
More boost?
bigger intercooler?

I have read a TE44 will get you into the 11's without too much hassle.
Just curious to know and understand.
 
Alcohol injection, 60 lbs. injectors, FMIC, 206/206 cam. Get rid of that stock intercooler. That was holding me back. 28 pounds of boost!!! I forget the timing, it was a few years back.

Turbo cars don't need alot of "gear". TTA's have 3.23 gears stock. Puts load on the motor which is what spools the turbo up. TE44 is a great turbo though, I had one last year.
 
I think if you are running good 93 pump gas and alky. with a common alky. street driving chip with 23* timing in 1st and 2nd, and 21* timing in 3rd gear you can get into the 11's with a full weight car at about 24lbs. of boost with a stock heads and cam. Buick built motor. :smile:

That's with a TA49, TE44, PT51, etc.

A bigger turbo "might" take a pound or two less.

Run 25lbs. if you can, need about 1.85 or better 60fts. and preferably on a good sticky track with cold temp.s and low elevation. :cool:

Any stock location upgraded intercooler is a big help, duttweiler neck at a minimum.

I agree it's not much hassle excepting the tuning of the car to run 24-25 psi. safely and dependably. ;)

Lots of people use slicks at the dragstrips to lower their timeslips a lot, a good 60ft. is the best way to lower the overall time.
