Just got the rear back from the builder.....and after seeing how big the support girdle is, now I'm nervous that it will hit the muffler that sits behind the rear!

I didn't have any issues with stock, but it "looked" tight.....anyone have this exhaust and a girdle without problems??

...or now do I need to buy a dual exhaust just so I can run a $12 girdle??? :)

Maybe I never had the exhaust sitting in the car correctly to begin with...I don't know....I'll try to get pics.

Do you have just the cover or the whole brace setup? If just the cover, it will fit.

Just the cover....but it "looks" like it might hit now if the car ever compresses far enough down on the suspension.

If I could figure out how to post the pics, I'd show you what the exhaust looks like in its current position!!

Thanks

I had the same exact setup, it fit, but it was close. I even had a dent in the muffler from one of the cap support bolts, but it never made a sound or hurt anything. You can move that muffler slightly by loosening the clamps and turning it.

I'll have to post pics when I get it in, but I'm just about 90% sure that this thing will hit the muffler easy and often.

Worse case is that it does....then I'm in b/w a rock and a hard place......go back to the stock girdle (which is not my first choice) or replace the crossflow with a "duel" kit.

I don't like the idea of "adding" weight for the girdle to fit and I don't stand to gain anything by switching to duels. I don't like the idea of it rubbing, hitting, denting, much less even touching the exhaust during upwards travel.

Ideas...opinions????

Thanks again,

P.S. If the worse case is true, I have a crossflow for sale :D

I don't think mine is anywhere near the muffler.

The muffler is a lot closer to the gas tank. ;)

I will double check tomorrow to get actual clearance in inches.

Just using the cover no extra support tubing.

Wasn't an issue with the install or bolt torquing etc.

I'm probably worrying for nothing, but it was close before.

Nothing but the girdle, so maybe I just have my muffler tilted a touch to far....I might be able to squeeze a 1/2" or so....but I thought I was pretty close to maxing it out when I installed that thing.

..any signs of contact with your muffler salvage?

Let me know if you measure that thing....I'd appreciate it...well, at least I'd stop being a baby and worrying so much :)

Thanks a ton,

Exactly why I don't like the crossflow. I say the crossflow ties up the entire back end of the car, and folks say no, no no. Well, thanks for proving my point. Duals all the way!!!

I don't think he proved anything yet it's not even on his car yet. :D

Mine fits fine with the TA cover, HR Parts swaybar and the ATR 3" CROSSFLOW exhaust.

Sometimes you should read the threads before you post.

Heavy 3" duals are for MonteCarslows that's why I don't like them.

Well it rained last night but I got under the car without jacking it up as best I could with da tape measure.

About 2" clearance at the middle bolts that stick out of the cover at the furthest point of the cover.

Outside round circle bolts had plenty of clearance about 4" at the bottom and since my muffler is at an angle to the parallel of the gas tank and rear end cover there is about 2" clearance at the top bolt area.

About 3/4" clearance to the gas tank front at the bottom, more clearance as the angle goes towards the rear end up top.

Plenty of room. :)

Also plenty of room for the 3.5" MMX driveshaft in the middle of the car since there's no big honking mufflers to get in the way. ;)

No speculation here. ;)

I believe we may have cut about 1" off one pipe to get the fitment I wanted near the gas tank and all but that was done way before I added all the other components, not done to fit around them.

Well, the point is the poster didn't even have to install it to recognize the problem.

For those of you who like the crossflow, I'm happy for you.

Ok...I wasn't trying to stir up a debate....I just tend to "over think" things before attempting it...especially if it is something I'm not that familiar with. Still, if someone likes the duel 3", then they should get it.

Yet, I still stand by my statements on the other thread concerning "performance" gains of a duel 3". Unless your running 4s, it ain't happening....but I'd loved to be proved wrong...except nobody has tested/posted "reliable" data.

hmmmm...if I got real picky, I could mention that the majority of the "mass" from the crossflow is positioned over the rear tires....better 60 foots??? :D :D
ALSO....it is less weight that I'm throwing on my car.

Anyway, I just got the H&R control arms yesterday (awesome), so I'll get back to this when I "actually" put the rearend in....and I'll get some pics. This info definitely makes me a little less nervous.

Thanks for the help and thank you very much for taking the time to measure that out salvage!!! ;)

Got those HR lower and upper arms on the GN too, they fit fine with the ATR Crossflow too. ;)

I should just take a picture for ya, maybe if I borrow a digital camera.

Everything should fit fine. Hopefully the rear Baer brakes too. :)

Fortunately I recognized the interference problem with true duals with my driveshaft and got the Crossflow system.

Ain't paranoia great. :D

Well...thanks for the words of confidence Salvage....installed and it clears the muffler!!! My main "feed" pipe to the muffler is still a little too close to the passenger side spring, but I think that should be easily fixed.

I took some pics and threw them on my webpage.

Rear end install

...now, on to the rear sway bar from H&R!!!
