I have a Auburn Posi-Unit in my 86 GN that does not seem to lock both wheels all the time. Sometimes when I get into it and the tires break loose the power transfers back and forth between the back wheels causing the right wheel to spin then the left instead of both locking together. Has anyone had this same problem? What did you do to fix it? Would posi additive help? Is the unit shot?
Thanks
Jeff

It's probably done. The Auburn posi uses cones that engage to lock the wheels. If one or both of the cones has alot of wear or nicks in them they will not always engage. Auburn does now have a rebuild program for the units for a fee. You might do a little checking around.........good luck

Toss the Auburn and put in an Eaton unit.
You won't be sorry, especially if you go to the track much.

I understand the Auburn rebuild deal is basicly a new unit.

HTH,
