Car was running fine with my Extender chip then I installed my new Turbotweak chip. I reset my Translator to 'limiter' and Turbolink to Scanmaster 2.1 + boost. Car ran terrible...backfiring and bucking; EGT's were 1400 range with static fp @ 43 and boost would only go to 15#. This is at WOT and during normal driving.

Took out the Turbotweak chip and reinstalled the Extender chip. Reset Translator to 'no limiter', Turbolink to Scanmaster 2.1 + boost + Extender and turned off the 'valet' mode. Car runs just as bad.

Checked coil pack: 11,700; 11,380; and 11,570.

Any ideas what the problem is or what I did wrong with the settings?

Problem is gone!!!! I tried a third chip (Joe Lubrant) and it worked fine so I put the Turbotweak chip back in and it is working fine. Could the computer have just 'hiccuped'?

Thanks for all the help.

Possibly just seated poorly. The reinstall must have fixed it. Things like this happen to me too.

I had reinstalled the Turbotweak the first time to no avail. I am just glad that it is working now. :)

Problem is back!! I have not driven the car since the last post and I took the car out to go to the track and it runs like crap. I took out the Turbotweak chip and installed the Lubrant chip and it still runs like crap. No power at all, bucks, backfires. Anymore suggestions?

Have you reset the computer? (unplug orange wire on the battery) Also don't rule out the coilpack or module. I had a bad coilpack or module (not sure which was bad/changed them both) and it had me chasing all kind of things. Car threw a code 41 which is the cam sensor, but the sensor was fine. It was a bad pack/module.

I did unplug the orange wire when changing the chip and Turbolink does not show any code. The coil pack readings are on the low side but within the 11-13,000 range that I have seen posted as normal. Coil pack/module have 14,000 miles and six years on them so I guess they could be going bad. Thanks for the input.

Look Quik, have you tried grounding the coilpack (rear bolt to bracket) to the firewall ground? It may not solve the problem but at least its free and will eliminate the possibility of inadequate grounding being the problem (both now and in the future). Let us know when you solve this mystery. man if anyone followed my posts i was chaseing a backfire deal it went from soso once in awile and then worse worse and worse swaped out eveyhting you could imagine from my brotherinlaws gn even the coil pack then i went back and finally pulled out the module when i fliped it over i knew for sure this was it the bottom of the module looked like i threw it in the fire ayway replaced it and now the car is beautifull .. i even had it detailed today I was so happy with it heh

start the car and unplug the cam sensor and see if the prob goes away

eddie--I will check the bottom of the module....I know the top looks real good.

azgn--Unplugging cam sensor does not help.

Possible the translator went bad. I had the same symptoms and I changed out the Trans + and problem solved.

well if you could get your hands on a known good igniton module and coil pack .. at least you can rule that out if it works or not as ive done alot of reading past posts and 75 precent of the problems that you and i described where related to the module or the coil pack my pack was good but the module was bad .. when i reinstalled it i cleaned up the ground from the bracket to the module ect.. aswell - hope it works out for ya :T

It sure can get expensive trying to trouble shoot these cars. Unless you have extra parts or parts from friends cars to swap out, you have to end up buying new and hoping the parts you buy are the correct ones. :(
