I'm pretty sure I have a bad Accumulator but I'm looking for some second opinions.

Basically, my brakes seem almost non-existant at higher speeds and I'm experiencing a hard pedal. The funnt thing is that even though I have a hard pedal, I can still push the pedal all the way to the floor at a complete stop. The pedal still has a hard feel at this point.

I pumped the brakes 10 times with the ignition off and turned on the ignition to time how long the pump motor took to shut off. It took 9 to 11 seconds every time.

Should I try anything else before replacing the accumulator?

Also, where can I get the best deal on one? Are there rebuild kits available, and are they wirth it?

Thanks for any advice,
Mike

When my accumulator went, I still had a firm pedal, but the brake light on the dash would come on for just a second or two after stopping or during stopping. I picked a new one for about $70 two or so years ago, I heard the price has sky rocketed on them since then.
Next time, I'm going to a vacuum setup like my TTA has and never worry about it again.

I have been looking for an accumulator actually, someone keeps mentioning autozone has teh complete systemf or $140 and yet they have no idea WTF i am talking about when i try and ask for it..they have two parts for "Brake booster" one is $140 the other is almost $700! .. i doubt the $140 unit is the "complete power master system for $140" .. ofcousre they had to order them, and they wont order parts unless you pay up front.. so go figure..

a new GM one is over $200 i hear..
