Is anyone running th Baer Grand Touring Plus GT front system? I am going to be ordering these pretty soon, just need to know if anyone has any problems with them. What offset you use on your wheels to clear and not rub.

Give Rick Elam at Baer a call,he's the man.You might also talk to Jack Cotton.I have a kit but it is not installed yet,but it sure looks good sitting on the shelf.

I've had mine for about 1000 miles. The Baer Touring come with everything you need. Ionly did a gravity bleed & could hardly see a drop of brake fluid in the PM master cylinder.

They come with break in instructions. I did the first 100 to 200 miles as instructed, but have never yet seated them per instructions - my TR is a daily driver.

After about 50 miles of driving & NO hard stops, I could feel a better braking performance than the stockers. At about 200 miles, I started noticing the brake pedal was almost 1" higher than with the stock brakes & the pedal felt much firmer than ever before.

My one panic stop (daily driver, other cars are on the road), the TR stopped probably as quick or even quicker than my 4 wheel disks with ABS on the wifes' 2004 Avalon.

They are expensive, but a "plug & play" setup - the only downsides I have found are:
1. '84 & '85 GN wheels work without spacers & '86 &'87 TR wheels need a 1/4" spacer.
2. Did I mention they are $$$.

Hey Nick,

Good choice, I love those brakes! :)

Currently we do not build a GT+ for any of the G-body cars. The most popular systems we build are the Track front/Touring rear.

HTH!

brakes

those are some nice brakes. But what you have to always keep in mind that it is the power booster that makes the brakes, it is the line pressure that stops the car. Subjects to consider, what is your current setup, does Baer make the system bolt on ready for that vehicle, because otherwise you might not have the brackets to do it, do you want front or all wheel disc? And I bring up the importance of the booster because i have worked on many of the G - body cars and noticed that the powermaster unit is prone to problems, I am actually from a brake shop called Power Brake Service, which is why I know a lot about the brake system of your car. But we have seen many people put on these 7 inch units that are in all the magazines, and they did little to nothing to help their braking. We have been putting more powerful seperate booster and master systems on these cars, but one of the best things we have been doing is installing this unit called the hydroboost, which is a hydrailic brake that runs off the power steering pump rather than the vacuum from the manifold, or in the case of turbo Buicks an electric vacuum pump. The advantage of this is that you can run any camshaft you want and not worry about any loss of vacuum. you can give us a call up and we can explain it to you more but, we are a supplier of Baer and Wilwood, who recomend customers to us all the time since they don't deal with boosters. our number is (800) 504 - 1060 and ask for Bob or Matt

I am going to have disc's at all corners. I am going to buy whatever powermaster that is required. Not 100% positive, but I think that Baer includes all the parts needed.

Hydroboost booster conversions

Check out the hydroboost info on the parts page, the hydroboost can push a larger master, and still generate all the pressure you could want, all with no vacuum required info @powerbrakeservice.net

Thanks. After drivin my STi I would be very scared to drive the GN without much better brakes.
