I have a 87 GN all Stock/all original 90K miles.

These are some mods I want to do now...

I know I have to do all the little mods like Air Filter and what not. But here is my list.

Walbro Fuel Pump
Accufab AFPR
Fuel Injectors DEKA IV 60 LBS/HR LONG
G T 6776 S TURBO
Precision Industries 9.5" 5 DISC LOCK UP CONVERTER
3" DownPipe w/ dump

Then Razors Alky Kit with a TurboTweak Chip.

Eventually in the Future Heads and a Cam. But for now, just whats above?

Any feedback would be helpful...

Thank You
Chris

You're going to need to do the TurboTweak chip right away otherwise your car will be out of tune due to the bigger injectors. If you don't change the chip, the ECM will cycle the 60lb injectors as if they were stock and you'll run rich. So you can't do the injectors now and wait to do the chip until you get alky. Speaking of tuning you're going to want to add a ScanMaster to that list too so you can watch for detonation and other things. If you're getting a bigger turbo you might want to get an intercooler that breathes a bit better, at the very least a Duttweiler neck for the stock IC.

But at the very least you'll need the computer chip if you're changing injectors. Luckily Eric at TurboTweak is a nice guy and offers free updates for a year, I THINK updating the chip for an alky kit is included in the free updates. So if you can't get the alky kit right away, you can still get the chip for 60lb injectors and later on have him program it for alky.

I'm also assuming by "Walbro Fuel Pump" you're referring to a kit with a hotwire harness. Don't bother trying to run a better pump on only the factory wiring. Get a kit that comes with a new harness like from racetronix.com.

The Scanmaster I am going to take out of my TTA since i dont drive it much. Chip i know about. I was also thinking about getting a Front Mount Intercooler. Other then that, is the Turbo a good choice? Would this make for a low 11 sec car? And are the injectors good if i were to get into the 10's?

Your proposed combo is good for the deep 11s- it's a matter of tuning the car. Add the alky, and 10s should be doable. Dutt necked IC or a stretched stock location works just fine- as does a FM.

Might want to look into a WBO2, and get really good at tuning the car. Best thing- all your mentioned mods can be removed avery quickly to put the car back to stock....

Thanks thats just the answer i was looking for!!

Alright, I wasn't sure by the way you said "then alky and a chip", I thought maybe you were going to run those injectors on a stock chip. ;)

Other than engine parts, if you're actually going to be racing it, get some wider wheels/tires in the rear with drag radials, and air bags for the rear suspension.

This is very good advice. Always remember that chip and injectors work together just like the fuel pump and hotwire. I would certainly tell Eric what your plans are when ordering the chip and he can work around your future plans. The other parts look perfect. Jumping directly to the 6776 turbo I hope that transmission is in good shape. That is stout moving from stock to that.

:) You didn't state a specific goal for time in the quarter mile, so that leaves everything unfocused. :)

Personally, I'd START with a good scan tool, skip the injectors, turbo and converter until I'd installed and mastered tuning with an Alchy kit.

On one of the TTA's I've owned, I kept stock injecotrs and put Alchy on with stock converter and Ta-49 and could break loose easily with 255/60/16 street tires & 20-21 PSI of boost on pump gas.

Last piece of advice, I'd do first: Install an audible knock detector -Basic protection against blowing your engine and its there all the time (Razor's advice to me that turned out to be on target for my situation).

I live close by caspers and will get a audible KR sensor. I have one in my TTA. If the Trans goes then it goes...
What about the TC stick with the Precision Vigilante or look into a PTC??

do the alky , injectors and chip . then learn the tuning on the car knowing you can raise the boost on just pump gas and you'll learn tuning at a relative safe level for the stock driveline , learn to launch and get the suspension right and sticky tires then work in the needed safety and equip mods for your goal ( trans mods, axles, driveshaft, rollbar) then once the car is ready and your awareness of what tuning is better add in the turbo heads , the chip can be adjusted for more fuel (and timing) and once you find what it needs you can have its retweaked
