Belt tensioner fix it yourself!!!!(with pictures)

Hi guys i have a 1987 buick gn and like almost all if them it has the belt tensioner blues!

So i was on the market for one and could not find one except for the 600$ billet one so i decided i would find a way to fix mine!

So here we go!

Heres my initial belt tensioner!

Next i welded a metal plate 1/4 inch thick to the front steel plate (my welding skills are very basic so sorry for the quality!)

Then i trimed down the metal piece to about the right size!

Then welded 3 piece of 1/8 inch metal toghether fir the spacer between the alternator and front ear( should have done 4 would a fit like a glove)

Then welded to the firs piece and trimed down and grindrd the welds!

Then i drilled a hole for the alternator bolt and did some more grinding and polishing

Heres finished product before paint!

And all painted!

So i know its not perfect i know its maybe a bit crooked i know the welds are maybe crapy but like i said i tried something and it looks very solid so for a biginer i find it not to bad
