So although this subject has been beat to death, brought back to life, & beat to death again.
If you had to pick which drag radials are the best for the street. The only factor is gripping, (& probably some puncture resistance) what would it be. Ignore wear, rain ,etc. I'm talking Nittos, or BFGs. BFG looks like they make several models.
Thanks for any suggestions, please be specific on type & size.

and spark plugs, and oil filters, and oil, and plug wires, and...

but seriously, Nittos are on sale in the group purchase section...:D

BFG DRs! See my sig on the 87 T. I am planning on going to a 28" BFG DR for my 8.5x15 Vector wheels in the future.

I just looked up the BFG DRs on Discount Tire. A 275/60R15 is about 28", and a 275/50R15 is a 26". hth, Tim

I have 275/50's now and I have to run spacers. What will fit without spacers?

I run 265/50/15 on stock GN rims and I have plenty of room. AND my GN is lowered 1".

A fellow club member runs 275/50/15's on stock GN rims without spacers. Lots of guys do.

Try upgrading the springs...

I'm running BFG 235-60/15's on stock T-wheels. Like Tim, I've cut numerous 1.7's on this little tire.
I've had both BFG and Nittos DR's on my 'Stang, and without a doubt, the BFG's hook better. IMO, the BFG's need a good burnout, and they're good to go.
I'm considering a 275-50 or -60 BFG DR on my stock T-wheels.

this is something new i found out.

there is a brand of tire called AMERICAN the L60 is the one tire basically as the 275/60/15 DR's, and i heard this tires hook much better than the DR's and have full threads, and also will outlast them, andddd they only run 125.00 each, i am gonna give them a try cause my DR's are pretty bawled already i will keep you updated, i know some guys who are using them and they have pulled some 1.6 60 foot on this tires..

I have stock T wheels. Not sure if the backspacing is the same as GN's. Maybe that's why they rub.

Re: this is something new i found out.

never heard of it.. Can ya get us info? When you say "L60" that implies that its a bias ply. no??

...that would be an "old" Mc Crerey(sp?)...bias-ply...i think i got 5k miles out of g-60-15's on stock GN wheels...bias-ply ride!

275/60 BFG's are currently the stickiest drag radial that will fit on stock T wheels without rubbing or spacers (they will rub the frame on on ramps above the recommended speed). On GN wheels they might need a 3/16" to 1/4" (small) spacer to keep them off the frame.

Nittos 275/60 is slightly narrower so it will fit better, last longer and handle better in rain, but for ultimate stickiness BFG's have the edge.

I'm down on the 50's (I went through 3 sets) because they are not as consistant as the 60's, especially on tracks with bad prep. And my 60 ft's dropped and trap mph went up when I switched to 60's.

i dont know exactly if there are .

biasply or not i will find out more info and let you guys know.

Are the BFGs the G force t/a drag radials? or is there a better version. I have to order that blue skyline poster.

I know they aren't exactly drag radials, but does anyone have any experience with Michelin Pilot tires?

I'm thinking of a set with new 16" - 17" wheels for my car.

I've got Michelin Pilot XGT 4's on my car and I must say, for an all around season tire they rock! They have almost 9K miles and the tread looks brand new still. They were great in the snow (yes, I drive my TR everyday) and they are pretty grippy for a street tire. I've got the stock size tire, but when the new wheels find their way on, I'll go bigger.

I had Nittos 275/50/15 and they sucked at traction. Best I could muster was a 1.62 and a few high 1.6x's at the track.:D :D :D . Cant hardly spin them on wet roads either driving normal.:(
I've since changed to 275/60/15 Nittos on the stock GN rims.

Tire Question?

I want to go with a BFG comp ta Radial 275/60/15 on a stock GN wheel.

Anyone ever had problems with rubbing or anything like that

Would i need a spacer for this wheel:)

This probably won't help, but maybe/maybe not.
Every car on this board seems to sit a little different. Some have had good luck with the 28" tires on a stock GN wheels, while others have had it rub a tad and needed small spacers. Only thing to do is try it out.

Any tire place should have them or you can hit Auto Zone and they cost like 10 bucks and come in a variety of sizes.
