i am going to be installing a pair before i head out to the track next week. how much pressure should i run, and how long in the burnout box to get them sticky?

I don't run BFG's, but I do run Nitto DR's on my Z28. At the track I run 'em 16-18psi depending on track conditions, and, I have to do a John Force style burnout to heat them up enough. Another member on the board here in Houston just went 1.78 w/ Nitto's on his GN.

The BFG's do hook better, and shouldn't take quite as much effort to heat 'em up. I've seen cars run 10's with them, with other suspension mods. (although, they suck in the rain) I'd still lower them to around 16psi for track use.

start at 20psi and work your way up or down from there Iam running 11psi hot on my big block nova only your first burn out should be big and let them sit over night after that it shouldnt take much to get them sticky,I get 1.60 60' times to 1.63 foot braking it.darn good in the rain for me I might add good luck.Stay safe.AL

I use 235-60-15 BFG @ 22psi and air bag on pass side. I like them. After broke in they hook much better. They are 3yrs
old this is the first year of driving to the strip with them on.
I can't see them as good street tires especially in the rain.
My advice don't use on the street they last much longer.
Not much burnout needed as they age.

18 psi should be fine. You don't need to go much lower than this unless you are making serious HP.

The Rule with Drag radials is keep them as clean as possible after the first burnout. Driving through dirt, crushed rock, gravel or grass on the way back to the staging lanes after the first run will pretty much kill the traction for the night.

cleanliness is WAYYYY more important than pressure.
