Ya'll take a gander here at muh sweet custom exhaust hanger. All kidding aside, this works great believe it or not. I had one of the repair kits to replace the old torn hanger. However, I tore that one up too trying to fit my downpipe up (whole other story). Thus, this was done after I drilled out the rivets. All I did was put a jack up under the Y in my Hooker exhaust and jack it up to the level I wanted. As side note, this helps for people who are having clearance problems with the frame/brake lines and their downpipes. Next I made several passes with mechanic's wire and dropped the jack. Walla! It's ghetto, but hey it works and now my downpipe clears my brake lines.
