boost command

It uses the factory solenoid to control boost. It bypasses the computer so that the BSTC is then in command. As I said in another post, I stared at the diagram and at the top of the ECM for about 15 minutes until it all sunk in. It then took about 15 minutes to do the install.

and ur able to control the boost right there in ur car?without messing with the wastegate. how much boost will it control up too. sorry guys im new to this whole thing on a gn.

I set the wastegate rod to 25 lbs without the BstC, and then you can dial the boost down about 6-7 lbs, so I have a range from 18-25 psi on the street. Makes tuning the alky very easy!! You can also add another boost solinoid and have about 14 lbs of range.

Generally, running the BstC with the single stock solenoid will give you about 6-7#'s of adjustment.
That is to say, if you turn the BstC to minimum, adjust your rod to what you would like to see as minimum boost, you will then get 6-7# above that when cranking the BstC up to max.

Adding a second solenoid into the equation as many of us do, you will have about 10-12# of total adjustability (spread).

clear as mud, right?

interesting

I do just the opposite. I set my wastegate at 15psi and have a range UPWARD to 22psi. In either case, the range that one factory boost solenoid will cover is 7psi.

thanks for ur comments guys does anyone have some installation instructions so i know exactly what i am getting myself into. i mean it's worth a try for 159.99 but i would still like to know what all is involved in the installation

You splice into about 4 wires and cut one wire coming out of the ecm. Thats about it, oh probably a power and ground wire (its been over a year since I put it in). I'm pretty good on computer things, but when it comes to the GN computer keep me away!! Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I'm not to good at most of this stuff and the BstC went in very easily.

ive heard some things about them not being very accurate. anyone else heard this?

I have one but haven't gotten around to install it yet. The installation seems very straight forward.

The operation and features are another story! The instruction manual is very poorly written and explained. What the F is a "Discrete" Why and when do you need the TPS trigger:confused: How do you activate and set the secondary boost setting and what range do you get?

Sorry, but I'm kind of PO'ed and just venting! When spending $160.00 It would be nice to get decent instructions:rolleyes: Paper any less usefull is generally kept in the bathroom!
I've installed a complete MSD ignition system with 2 step and timing computer with less confussion! I'm sure this unit can do what I want it to do, it'll just take a year to figure it out!

I'd like to get a Translater + but not if it comes with directions like this! Don't take this as vendor bashing, but c'mon guys, spend more than 2 minutes on your key board to type up some decent instructions that some of us simple minded, non engineer types can understand!

If anyone wants the "instructions", I can email them to you.

AAAHH, I feel better now!
