boost flutter

My boost guage can and has fluttered by as much as 1 or 2 psi on WOT. I'm assuming this isn't normal. How steady should the guage be on WOT? I have one cylinder low on compression, and I think it is giving me the trouble.

Now are you talking about boost spike?


My gauge usualy stays steady at 15psi at WOT. But there is times when it spikes up to 5psi more than what I'm set at. Just wondering if that is whats going on with your car

I wouldn't call it a spike, its a rapid shake of about 1 psi. I think it's from a weak cylinder.

Do have stock exhaust? How about a cut out (Dump pipe)? If you have a dump pipe, does the boost still fluctuate when it's open? What kind of boost controller? I'm running the RJC boost controller and with my cut out closed, my boost starts fluctuating at around 24#, drops to 22#, then up to #25, does that as long as I'm WOT. But with the cut out open I have rock steady 25#.
