Was installing the boost guage today and probably fiddled a little too much with the wrong wires, because not only does the new guage not work, the stock one doesn't either. One bar is continuously lit up. Never more, never less. I took out the new boost line (with the "T") and still nothing. Anyone have any idea of what could have went wrong?

Re-check your vacuum lines. Sounds like one is off.

I checked and it seems all the lines are pluged in. Now the turbo on the dash shows two bars continuously instead of one. Any idea which line it could be? I'm kinda stumped right now.

I had an 85 once and the gauge was way off. At idle my rpms were around 2500 and just giving the car a little gas would make the boost gauge jump to 7 psi...this was still at idle. I had a VDO boost gauge hooked up and while the dash gauge showed 7 psi the VDO gauge still showed 0. If all the lines are hooked up then it's just the typical factory gauge being off, not a problem. This is why everyone gets a boost gauge as their first gauge. I can't remember where the lines go, but they are easily tracable. If it gets too anoyying to you just block off the line that goes to the sensor for the dash gauge. You will never show boost, but you won't be showed false boost levels either.

Follow the black plastic hose that starts on the boost thingy that is mounted on the passenger fender rail up top with the relays.

It should be installed tightly all the way you can follow it and may be T'd with your aftermarket gauge somewhere along the line.

Check all the black plastic hoses on the car to see they are securely mounted/installed.

I checked, and all are tightly secured. I am 90% sure that the problem is that the wrong hoses are connected. For example, when I pull out the black hose on the fender rail, I get no vacuum pressure (it's supposed to though, right?). What I need is a couple of good, detailed pics of all the hoses and leads so I know what goes where.

Go to gnttype.org. They have a diagram in the technical section for the vacuum routing for both the 84-85 and the 86-87 cars.

Stupid question, but did you happen to crack the vacume hose somewhere between the TB and the boost gauge? the other day I tried to reposition the hose on my car and SNAP!!! The crack was very small but it threw my readings way off.

I did find one crack, but fixed it and still nothing. All those diagrams were great that were sent to me via e-mail guys, but I would like a color, real pic of a detailed 1985 TR. Anyone have one, or anyone live near me with a 1985 so I can compare the two in person?
