i was reading another board and this guy said that he had a friend with a gn who was running 28# on cast pistons... does this sound like BS? how much boost can be run on cast pistons?

Jeff

I ran my ttype 27 lbs of boost all day at Atco raceway last year on cast pistons.

A guy down here named Orlando ran 35-40lbs of boost with the factory cast pistons for a pretty long time ('bout 4 years or so)....... Of course this is not the norm and he always had C16 (117 octane) in the tank..... It can be done with the right tune:)

The Stock turbo pistons are designed after deisel pistons. They are tough. Many many people have run in the 10 second mark with them

Hi,
i feel the stock piston is very strong.i ran very high boost regularly last year with no issues.unfortunetly i just cracked one of them in half recently on a high boost pass.i am pushing them to the limit with ported heads,cam,t72 turbo and 72# injectors.
although this may seem unfortunate to many.i was very happy to find that the damaged piston caused absolutely no damage to the engine.becuase of the great design of these pistons it managed to stay in one piece despite the fact that it cracked all the way around from one side of the wrist pin to the other.i will be putting in a replacement "stock" piston and will be racing again shortly.:D
