I've never seen one, so don't know how they read both boost and vac. on just one gauge.
My boost gauge is suspect, so I'm in the market for a new one.
Should I get one that also (somehow) reads vac.?
Also, could I use the same hard line and light wiring I now have? I've got my current gauge in an A-pillar mount. Could I just pop it out and replace it, or will it all have to be redone?
Thanks

It reads vac at idle and boost during acceleration. I installed my knock and vac/boost gauge today. :biggrin:

In mine i have a spots comp autometer 2 1/16 boost/vacuum gauge reads to 30 in of vacuum to 30 pounds of boost good to see if you have vacuum leaks, at idle i'm at 18 in of vacuum.

If you go to the Autometer website, they have pics.

boost = positve pressure
vac = negative pressure
a running engine pulls vacuum to operate , (-psi) but they scale it to read In/HG
your turbo provides pressure under boost (+ psi)
as you pass 0psi you are in boost , below that you are in vac

a vac /boost gauge just reads positive and negetave pressure

the auto meter sport comp 30 in hg /30 psi gauge is nice

Yes- you can use the same hook-up as before. The brand won't matter as they all function on the same principles. If your's is acting up: you might want to be certain there are no kinks in the tubing going to the vacuum/boost source.

if you like white face , yes

the autometer sportcomp looks more like the stock analog dash

funny you should bring that one up , i have the sport comp 30/30 and just saw on summit the one you have there , http://store.summitracing.com/partd...822101+4294908420+4294792988+115&autoview=sku

i recently found my gauge reading past 30 , how far im not sure

without alky and good knowledge of your tune and equipment I doubt you would ever need a a guage over 30psi and if it did go that far what it was would be the least of your worries .

cant go wrong with autometer but i would buy from summit , then there will never be a problem if the gauge doesnt meet your expectations or goes bad .

Might be easier to read a 30-30 gage, and if your motor ever sees over 30 lbs of boost, the gage might survive the motor explosion, but I doubt it.
Just my opinion.

Ive bought all my gauges from egauges.com and never had a problem. I run the Phantom gauges in both my 00 Grand PRix GTP and the 87 GN. So I could recommend them unless you find it cheaper elsewhere. But Summit is good too!
