brackets & comealong strap on alternator ???

I have an 86 slightly modded GN with a couple of brackets and a come-along strap tightened down to the frame....I was wondering if this is a usual upgrade...it doesn't look stock...the pevious owner who I must commend, I saw the car for sale and kept hounding him for pics and questions and eventually I flew down to Long Island, New York from New Hampshire and drove it home Anyway he said it was to keep the motor mounts from wearing out sooner any one else have this? Thanks

the engine tie down is cheap insurance, it keeps the motor from torquing so much under load. lessing the chance for breaking a motor mount and false knock due to the movment of the motor.

i would suggest get rid of the set up you have now and get a bolt style set up. at the very least be ready to be an other style of tie down cause the moment you jump on the car you will sheer the eye bolt right off the alt.

A MUCH better solution would be the poly DS motor mount from www.HRPartsNStuff.com plus it doesn't put more clutter under the hood.
