For the past month or so I've had the front of the GN on jack stands with my parking brake on. So today I lower the car and notice that I have a brake fluid puddle by my passenger rear wheel.

It appears that the leak came from out from the drum. I assume this is not normal. Does anyone know what the problem is? And what to do?

Thanks,
:)

Sounds like your rear wheel cylinder is leaking. There is a rebuild kit, but they're cheap enough to just repalce the whole assembly. You might want to upgrade to S-10 wheel cylinders.

Pull your drum off and make sure the shoes aren't worn. I had a car that had brake issues and one day the pedal went down and the cause was one of the little push rods that the cylinders press against the shoes popped out from the shoe being worn down thru the steel. Also if you live in the rust belt or have a car that came from there check to make sure your brake line doesn't have a hole in it from the corrosion caused by rust.

Also if your from the rust belt. Check the backing plate, to make sure it is not worn or rusted through. Especially where the wheel cylinder mounts and were the hold down pins go through.

Thanks. Turns out when I got the car the guy threw in 2 new cylinders :) (along with a ton of stock parts) that he was going to put in for added braking.

The part number is Wagner pn F110261, which I believe is for the S10. Time to jack up the back.
