Finally had to improvise. For the past few months I've had a horrendous time trying to replace a bit of the rear brake line that terminates at a crossmember above the rear axle. I didn't have the original line, so I've been forced to wing it. It finally dawned on me... Amazing what can be thought up over a couple Budweiser's and a pack of Camels. Anyhow, I picked up a pack of wire toaster forks from Walmart (same wire as a metal coathanger) which was 20" long. The length of line I was working with was 40" long. So I bent the thing out as straight as possible, headed out to the Buick, and bent the coathanger in the exact form I would need in order to complete the line. I then carefully removed it, bent the new line accordingly, and BINGO, new line went in (after quite a bit of wiggling and cursing, then a loud HOLY !@#$ as I actually pulled it off).

Just a tip for those of you who may find yourself in a similar predicament and don't want spend $170 on a whole new set of lines.

yes, that is a good technique for fitting odd shapes of tubing. Cheap welding rod also works well as a "guide rod", it is commonly available in nice straight lengths up 3 ft long.
