IDEA: How about a stealthy, top secret, "gumball 3000 style", Buick Regal vs. Ford Mustang rental car bracket race challenge?

HOW: If people are interested, all interested parties would join an email list (for top secret animosity), a track rental would be set up and date and time is secured.

Participants would rent their car (Buick Regal or Ford Mustang) and show up.

Not everyone on the board has a functional car at any given time. Not everyone wants to beat on their car (maybe cruising or shows is their thing). This would really level the playing field so to speak... should be real fun. I think either one of these cars could be secured for $30 or less a day. My buddy just rented a Grand Am for $17 this past weekend!

LOCATION: Somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic area... Atco, E-Town, Cecil County Dragway?

What'cha think??? Sound like fun?

LoL Where did you come up with this idea? What are the dangers involved in this? What happens if someones car busts?

And do they have the Regal GS available for rental?

I rented a Buick Century for work last spring, my counterpart rented a gay yellow V6 Mustang.

The Century was quicker.

Two rides in that POS convinced me that Mustangs still totally suck as a vehicle.

Century rental cars are very nice, I'd consider one as a beater if they were new at about $12K. :D

LoL.. We rented a silver Century from National rental cars in Orlando Intl airport a couple summers ago. One of the few times we flew instead of drove. It had the 3500 series motor in it. I'll say one thing, it got great fuel milage! Didnt have enough pep though.

My daily driver is a Century - an ex-rental car from Florida that got totaled in Alabama. Lots of cushy amenities for a bottom-o-the-line car. Peppy enough. I beat the ever loving crap out of it every day and it runs great. Should've had a 3.8 in it, though, but I guess that's what the Regal is for.

personally i think that if they ever make a new grand national that they should base it on the century instead of the regal.
