I Am Replacing The Timing Chain And Oil Pump On My 87 Gn. What Is The Procedure To Properly Install The Sensor And Adjust It? Any Help Would Be Grateful. :d

casper electronics

They sell a cam sensor cap with a red light on top and you can adjust the timing and the light tells you when you are in time and the light comes on when the car is running so if that was to fail you know its the problem. FYI
Cost $70.00.

GM designed it a certain way that alot of people dont know about, and its not a coincidence. When you're at TDC on the compression stroke, the window ring's locator tab will line up with the cap's locating notch, which will line up with the lockdown bolt. I can pull and reinstall/adjust a cam sensor in 5 minutes. And it works. Seems that people who complicate this procedure, usually have money to make on it in one way or another. Make it too hard to do yourself, and you'll have to buy this gizmo, or this manual, or go see the dealer mechanic, etc. I have to give credit where credit is due. Lou Czarnota showed me how the tab lined up with the cap notch, and a couple weeks ago, I noticed that both lined up with the lockdown bolt.
Someone should make a sticky of this, cause it would end alot of needless headaches and curiosity about setting a cam sensor.
