Can I use Dexron III in my powersteering?

Put new hoses to my power steering unit and flushed everything out of the system.
Can I use Dexron III as fluid?

You can, but . . . . I would not do that in anything i care about.
Fluid is cheap, don't risk it.

The fluid for a GM power steering unit is thicker (more viscus ) than ATF of any kind. Make sure to use the proper fluid so you don't burn the pump up/
