Can you port an upgraded turbo?

I've seen where people would port their stock turbos for better performance, but does this also work with larger turbos? I have the TE-60 and wondered if porting the exit on the compressor side would help any. I was thinking of a bell-mouth type port job to help the air flow out of the turbo and into the intercooler better. Can any port work be done to a larger turbo or would it affect its airflow quality?

Can't tell you if it actually helps or not, but I always figure it can't hurt! I always at least "clean up" the turbo inner surfaces, if not do some porting. A little here, a little there... hope it adds up to that extra 1 or 2 horsepower that the other guy didn't find, right?! ;)

It should help slightly.Considering the speeds and pressures that air moves through a housing, you've gotta figure that smoothing things out would help efficiency.
Of course, since a fair number of big time racers already do this[as per the engineers],you might guess there's something to this.
Kinda goes hand in hand with all the other polishing in the inlet tract.
It's just that most guys don't know how to do it.
