This is a post that I made on another automotive related board. I just thought I would share. Comments are most welcome.

There is a bill being presented to Canada's parliament on Friday? It is being introduced by the new Federal Conservative government. It seems that people are getting sick of the ricer flyby and numbskull drifting attempts that usually ends up killing innocents. Go figure. This Bill ( as introduced ) will make it a Federal offense and will demand major minimum jailtime and huge fines. This may also include loss of drivers license for years if not permanently. What ever happened to a quick blast on a deserted freeway or stoplight to stoplight? Even that makes little sense with local tracks running street programs. Now we have the so-called tuner age that has no finish line or common sense to not endanger normal drivers. We have 15 second warriors weaving in and out of rush hour traffic as though it's a video game. If this law passes, and someone else dies as a result of your actions while street racing, you are screwed. The general automotive enthusiast will again be painted black by the careless actions of the ignorant few.

Thats funny

I love how people get so worked up about street racing (speaking for the US) the police expend all this energy putting together anti street racing task forces, legislators make new laws, and it gets plastered all over the news.

Meanwhile there are still 40,000 murders a year and God knows how many drug overdoses. More people still die from carbon monoxide in their homes, and people like me who have been involved in countless street races have never seen anyone hurt, YET, I can just be strolling along on my bicycle and find a body of a dead woman stabbed 37 times (True Story). I had to scan the newspaper for any little blurb about that because it didnt even make television news. Just a tiny block in the newspaper.

One kid gets killed "street racing" and forget about it, we need to put the whole city on lock down and put everyone in horses and buggies.

This is what happens when you let sensationalism drive emotions that inturn drive action.

People need to stop being so damn emotional and be more logical.

Im sure alot of this applies to canada too, but to be honest, I dont really care that much about canada since to me its a lost cause. A socialist nightmare.

Most of the "Street Racing" deaths in the Dallas area are 14-18 year old kids in 4 dr honda accords or pick-up trucks.

If the punishment was the death penalty, the numbers crashes/deaths wouldn't drop by even one. These kids are stupid.

I'm not going to argue with you about that one, it's quite true on many levels. We always please everybody, and it shows.
