Car spools way faster with dump open

Not to sound overly obvious, but my car spools way faster with the dump open. I have a single 3" exhaust with a 3.5" THDP. It flows pretty well, but man, this thing will spool to 5 lbs barely trying. Is my 3" that restrictive?

I ran 12.7's all day through the hooker 2.5 all with 1.9 60'. Ran with the dump open and knocked off almost 2 full tenths. 60' stayed the same. I did not adjust my boost settings but it leaned it out a bit. Some people have said they have run slower with the dump open. Not my experience.

my experience has been that i run a 10th quicker ET with almost no gain mph open dump, same 60ft....i have the hooker 2.5 cat back with no cat....

With the dump open I get lots of false knock. I have an electric cut out valve, (lots o fun) but at wot with it open, my knock gauge shows tons of knock, I push the close button, re run, and it runs great. So, not sure what to do to correct this.

Sam, Glad to hear that. So it was a big difference going from the 3" to the 3.5"? Did the boost increase? Does it feel any different on the top end? I have a 3.5" DP on the way and honestly I didn't expect much difference. Give me all the details. Thanks!

I'm not sure about WOT, as I haven't really gotten on it yet, just cruising. Going to hook up the laptop this weekend and see whats up. I'm not even talking about an ET gain or anything, just spool up characteristics. It spools easily twice as fast, just weird. Never had that happen with my 3" THDP.

Good, I'm real glad to hear that. I can't wait to put mine on. That's with the dump closed right? What turbo trim do you have?
I'm having problems getting my car to 60' and maybe the 3.5" DP will fix it.
Hey Tin Man, I've run the time in my sig through a 2.5 Hooker Cat Back. But I don't have areochamber mufflers. I have Dynomax race mufflers.
