car wont rev past 4500???

I took my car out for a run today.The car would not rev past 4500.It felt like a rev limiter hit It just stayed at 4500.Any ideas???Thanks Tony

Valve springs .Cat convertor plugged, bad fuel pump, filter,Maf sensor,coil pack.bad coil mod,KR.

The list can get long. Do you have access to a scan tool???

If you haven't replaced the valve springs yet, that would be my bet.

Thanks for the replies.I purchased the car about 7 months ago.This is the first time I got on it and tried to rev it high.So I dontg know if this was a problem for the previous owner.It has newer comp valve springs, no cat,no maf sensor(DFI),a new cold air kit,to name a few things people brought up.I put it in third gear and punched it.It reved nice and fast up to 4500 and the boost was up at 15.But it hit 4500 and stayed.The wide band said I was running under 10 to 1.Very rich.Any other suggestions?any one else havethis problem??

If you flood the engine in that rpm range its not gonna want to rev....especially in 3rd gear.....under 10:1 is way too rich.

Do you think its one of the settings in the DFI that is causing this rich condition?

Certainly worth reviewing if you feel that te wideband is reporting correctly.
