With a paper clip jumpered between pin A & B I should see the codes 'flash' on the SES light.

I do not understand how to tell the difference from a code 42 and a code 43.

Does the order of malfuction codes equat to the number of flashess?

ie a code 42 is the 14th code on the list, when code 12 is equated to zero.

The order doesn't matter. After the three code 12s, just count the flashes. Four short flashes, short pause, two short flashes is 42. Then there will be a longer pause to the following code.
