Would Casper's Quick Start Module that is inserted into the cam sensor wiring determine if the cam sensor is bad?

My car will not start and back fires when I try to start it.

The cam sensor rotor and cup look just fine. The cam sensor is clamped tight and does not move and the cup only as a very small amount for free play, about like a distributor rotor. So I thought with the Quick Start Module in place, if the car started the problem must be the cam sensor.

Am I on the right track?

Yes, Sometimes the keyway that hold the cup inplace breaks off and the cup will turn with enough force.Make sure the keyway can be seen coming through the cup.Since it starts with the caspers tool might just need a new cap.

With the cap off I can not turn the cup. I removed the cup and looked at the pin. Ilooked pretty short, but I have not seen one before.

I looked at the washer to see if the pin was long enough to extend passed the washer and engage the pin hole. I did and would not move when the cup was installed.

Dan,

Go to GN-TTYPE and check out the adjustment procedures. Keep working adjusting correctly and you'll be running. :D
