What a bunch of ignorant sluts, I mean those people in the article. My only experience with the Vega is with my 75 Cosworth. If you compare the Vega to any Corolla,B210,RX2/3,BMW2002,Pinto,Wartburg,blah,blah of the day I think you will see there were other cars built with the same issues. The aluminum block was state of the art back than. A lot of technology was learned from the 61-63 aluminum Buick V-8. At the time there were only 2 all aluminum, non steel bore liner blocks being produced. The Vega was one and Daimler Benz had a V-8. Now everything has an aluminum engine. One shouldn't disrespect their elders. I always thought the Vega handled rather sports car like as even the iron head models have only 51% of their weight on the front wheels. As for rust, well everything rusted back than. And I like the looks too. Based on styling two of my favorites are the 71-73 Vega and the 65-69 Corvair coupe. I like the grille and taillamps on the 71-73 better than the 74-77. But I really luv the styling of the 75-80 Monza/Skyhawk/Starfire hatchbacks better and those are Vegas under the skin but not mentioned in the article.
One of my favorite quotes. "The worst cars built today are better than the best cars built 10 years ago". I can hardly wait to see what bad cars there are 10 years from now. Hows come no one said Model T or any car from the first part of the 20th century?
