Chip/wastegate

i have tried 2 of my friends red armstrong chips and every time i do,it puts my boost at like 23,even though it says max 19 on the chip,i have my wastegate set at about 17 with the stock chip,are the aftermarket chips meant to work on a stock wastegate?

The chip control really is a "base boost plus xx" design.

Look at it this way: the stock chip makes ~14 lbs on a stock wastegate. You have added ~ 3lbs to make 17. The RA chip "adds" ~ 5lbs to the stock 14 to make 19 as indicated on the chip. Since you have cranked down the WG rod to make 17, if you add ~5 lbs you get ~22.
