clackity cam sensor

When my 86 T Type is first started = much loud clackity, clickity that sounds like many little valves miss adjusted. Took belt off to narrow down the noiseys and it is the cam sensor (sits on L H side above water pump). After a good warm up clickity, clackity is barely noticeable. Car runs great. Any tips on what to do. I have zero experience with this part...

your not alone ,I have same noise
would like to know cause - or fix if its a problem that needs attention

have heard of shimming to fix this but dont know specifics

I believe my car has had the same problem for the four years I've owned it, but I'm not sure. New sensors are still available, but they're not cheap.
