I have the manual climate controls that came factory in the 87 GN's.
All air output was directed at the floor. I verified that vacuum was getting to the controls, and that a working check valve was in line to prevent boost from blowing in. So I went to the junkyard and got another unit today. Now if I set the A/C to MAX, it blows out of the vents, but when I switch to NORM or BI-LEVEL it drops back to the floor again. What do I need to fix?

Im having a similar problem with mine, only mine blows out the floor vents on ANY setting. Is this normal or what? Seems like a waste of air movement if it is.

You might try a new selector switch. This is the electrical switch that is actuated by the select lever. They have a habit of shorting out. Look for any burn marks on the switch. If none than maybe the switch is just worn out.

There is also a small vacuum selector switch on the end of the manual select arm. It is a little round plastic disk with ports to direct vac to the proper hose. If it is not working, it will cause your problem Jack.
