Thanks to Sinister 87 gn on this board i now know why the service engine soon light is coming on. but what do i do next i mean in it is the coolant temp. sensor but where is that located. it all makes sense now that is why the fan is coming on right away but where could i find this sensor and what does it take to change it , thanks.

its mounted on the front of your intake ,its installed straight up, directly under your iac (front of throttle body) it will have a single wire running to it and have a "grab both sideds to remove" connector , you will need to drain out some coolant to change it .

The sensor that is mounted straight up, with one wire is not the coolant sensor. It's the coolant switch, which is only used to turn the high speed fan relay on when coolant exceeds 200° something.

The coolant sensor mounted on the front of the manifold, below this one (sticking out the front of the manifold horizontally on the driver's side of centerline), and has a multi wire connector is the only one monitored by the ECM is likely the one that is faulty.

I just have to pull it off and stick the new one right in correct? thanks for the info guys.

Right, it's an easy swap ,,,, um , except reaching it is a little bit of a pain.
Also, if your heater selector is on defrost, the AC will run, and the cooling Fan will run with it. FYI
