Today I pulled a Code 42 and 51. The only thing that these have in common is a blown ECM. Is there anyway to bench test an ECM? What donor cars can I pull a new one out of?

A few weeks ago I spliced some wires into the ECM to fool it into thinking that the AC was on or that the Shifter was in Drive. I couldn't adjust my extender chip for some reason, so that's why I did this. Is this why the ECM went? I was getting a bucking problem, could the ECM cause that?

Thanks guys.

Those 2 codes are notorious chip seating (pins) problems as well as translator plus spark wiring signal problems.

I would recheck both first.

Could be the ECM has a worn/bad intermittant socket.

42 would be the spark wiring intermittant or connector problem.
